Post-covid pulmonary fibrosis is a complication of coronavirus infection. Pulmonary fibrosis is a disease in which the soft parts of the lungs become stiff, causing ulcers. As a result, the air chambers in the lungs cannot function properly.
Most patients with coronary heart disease have mild symptoms, and many have no symptoms at all. Very few patients suffer from severe complications that require hospitalization. Among infected patients who require oxygen, they are at higher risk of developing post-covid pulmonary fibrosis.
How to understand ?
Shortness of breath, dry cough, chest pain or pressure, weight loss, slight fatigue, and pain in muscles and joints, even after coronary healing, may be suspected to be a complication of the lungs. Gradually the fingers or toes may become thicker.
To diagnose pulmonary fibrosis, chest X-ray, computerized CT scan of the chest, echocardiogram, pulmonary function testing and pulse oximetry should be done.
Urgent Treatment is Required:
Without proper treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, long-term complications such as pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs), heart failure, lung cancer, and frequent lung infections can occur.
Whatever you do:
If the problem of difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain, etc. persists for a long time even after the corona has healed, do proper examination on the advice of an experienced doctor and take appropriate treatment. Absolutely quit smoking. Exercise the lungs regularly. Gradually increase fitness. Eat nutritious food.
